Emily Pitek
Insider Threat Researcher
Emily Pitek is a Human-Focused Insider Threat Researcher in MITRE’s Insider Threat Capability group. She contributes to a growing portfolio of work leveraging her background in qualitative and quantitative research in social-behavioral sciences to improve insider threat deterrence, detection, and mitigation across the US Government and Critical Infrastructure Industry. Emily has contributed to projects related to personnel vetting and detection and indicators. Prior to joining MITRE, Emily was a research assistant at Yale University’s Human Relations Area Files (HRAF), where she designed, conducted, and analyzed cross-cultural research examining cultural responses to various resource stressors. With HRAF, Emily has co-authored multiple articles that have been published in peer-review journals. Emily holds a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Rhode Island, as well as a M.A. in Forensic Psychology from George Washington University. During her time at The George Washington University, Emily completed externships focused on data analytics and open-source intelligence, insider threat, and violent extremism/terrorism.
