James Murphy
Senior Human-Focused Insider Threat Researcher
James Murphy is a Senior Human-Focused Insider Threat Researcher on the Insider Threat Capability Team. He contributes his data science and software development skills to a growing portfolio of work that leverages the behavioral and cyber sciences to improve insider threat deterrence, detection, and mitigation across the US Government and Critical Infrastructure Industry.
Prior to joining MITRE in 2021, James was a civilian software engineer for the US Navy, developing modernizations for naval fire control systems on surface combatants, and improving battlespace visualization tools. Since joining MITRE, he has worked in projects involving disinformation in social media (Social Integrity Platform), malicious code in open source repositories (Hipcheck) and wartime incident reporting (CAESAR). He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Mary Washington.
